Brunei Darussalam Food Authority (BDFA) announced that Ah Lai White Curry Noodle from Malaysia and Indomie Special Chicken Flavour from Indonesia, recalled by Taipei Department of Health were not imported into Brunei Darussalam.
The agency said it contacted importers for Ah Lai and Indomie brands and received confirmation that both affected products are not on sale in the Sultanate.
The products were found to have ethylene oxide, a pesticide not authorised for use in food. Long-term exposure to the substance may lead to health issues.
BDFA reminded the public that Section 9 of subsection (1) subparagraph (i) of the Public Health (Food) Act, Chapter 182, any individual preparing, selling or importing food items that can harm health can be imprisoned for five years, fined or both.
