News about Apple opening its first official retail store in Malaysia has been ongoing since 2021. The Cupertino company has started hiring for retail positions in Malaysia and an interesting structure at TRX was also spotted early this year. According to Bloomberg’s Apple analyst Mark Gurman, the first official Apple Store in Malaysia is now expected to open in February 2024.

According to the report, Apple is working on expanding and revitalising its retail chain with a deeper push in China and other parts of Asia. The tech giant is said to be opening 15 new stores across the Asia Pacific region, 5 locations in Europe and the Middle East, and four extra outlets in North America through 2027. In addition, Apple is also expected to have six revamped or relocated stores in Asia, 9 in Europe and 13 in North America. Apple is proposing to have 53 new, relocated or remodelled stores worldwide over the next four years.

After opening its first Apple Store in India in April 2023, the report stated that Apple is planning to open new stores at three sites in India and its first store in Malaysia. It will also open a new store at the newly opened Battersea Power Station in London which also houses Apple’s UK headquarters.

According to the report’s suggested timeline, the new Apple Store at The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur is set to open in February 2024. This comes after Apple opens two new stores in South Korea in December 2023.

Asia-Pacific is a key focus for Apple as the market contributed about USD 130 billion (about RM597 billion) in revenue for Apple last year. Apple currently has three Apple Stores in Singapore and two in Thailand. Today, Apple has posted 11 available retail positions for Malaysia which include Senior Manager, Manager, Store Leader and Genius.
