The 4th CEFIA Public-Private Forum hosted by the Philippine Department of Energy was held on February 16 in Cebu, Philippines.
CEFIA (Cleaner Energy Future Initiative for ASEAN) is an initiative proposed by the Japanese government with the aim of promoting the spread of decarbonization technologies and the establishment of policies and systems under the initiative of business, in order to promote decarbonization and energy transition in ASEAN. , started in September 2019.
This year marks the fourth meeting of the forum. The meeting was attended by government and business officials from Japan and ASEAN, as well as financial institutions such as the Asian Development Bank. In addition to introducing the activities of specific projects (flagship projects) under CEFIA, cross-projects such as mobilizing funds for decarbonization technology, visualizing greenhouse gas emission reductions, and fostering entrepreneurs In addition, discussions were held on the future direction of CEFIA.
At the beginning of the forum, Mr. Shinichi Nakatani, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry on behalf of the Government of Japan delivered a speech by video message, congratulating the 50th anniversary of Japan-ASEAN friendship, and CEFIA, one of the major cooperation between Japan and ASEAN in the energy field. In order to realize the Asian Zero Emissions Community (AZEC) concept, which is scheduled to hold a ministerial meeting and a public-private investment forum in March this year, we will also promote new projects under CEFIA.
