McDermott will transport and install two pipeline segments and one section of flexible pipelay for the FaS gas project in Malaysia
McDermott has received a contract from Sarawak Shell Berhad (SSB), a subsidiary of Shell, to transport and install the pipelines and platforms for the F22, F27 and Selasih fields (FaS) gas field development off the coast of Sarawak in east Malaysia.
Under the contract, McDermott will be responsible for the transportation and installation services for two pipeline segments and one section of flexible pipelay.
The company will also provide pre-commissioning works on all infield pipelines as well as undertake the structural installation of three jackets and topsides.
McDermott subsea and floating facilities senior vice-president Mahesh Swaminathan said: “This is the fourth project we are executing for Shell under the Subsea and Floating Facilities project portfolio, demonstrating the strength of our long-standing relationship.
“To ensure efficient project delivery, we will draw upon the expertise from our Kuala Lumpur centre, which supports the global execution of subsea and offshore projects.”
McDermott plans to undertake the project management and engineering work in Malaysia while the offshore installation is due to be performed using its versatile heavy lift and pipelay vessel DLV2000.
Shell is the operator of the F22, F27 and Selasih fields, which form part of the MLNG Extension production sharing contract.
Earlier this year, SBB awarded a contract to KKB Engineering, a subsidiary of OceanMight, for the engineering, procurement and construction of standard wellhead platforms for the MLNG FaS (F27, F22, Selasih) project.
